Lessons from the ER- #1- Prophecy by Intoxication
It is amazing what one can learn by observing human behavior in an Emergency Dept. on Saturday night. Mr. D.A. entered the ER by police escort after being involved in some sort of altercation in which he apparently was the underdog. With blood leaking from his lip, nose and several lacerations on his head it was evident that he was definitely the loser. Of course, it was quite clear to me that whatever he got he likely deserved. I could smell the alcohol from several feet away and he proceeded to have a lengthy conversation with several people who simply did not exist. He prophesied to these "imaginables" that the world was coming to an end and that repentance was necessary. Of course, this did not apply to him, as he saw no problem with his intoxicated state, the string of expletives used, the use of the name of Christ as an expletive, and the repeated threat to shoot his opponent in the back of the head. At least he was somewhat apologetic regarding his unruly state as he swore that he loved everyone "in the name of Jesus, Amen".
